Over the long weekend I was invited to Viamede resort. It honestly couldn’t have come at a more perfect time. The weekend before I had been in Las Vegas for my bachelorette and Monday May 21 I was starting a new job. I need a relaxing break and Viamede delivered!
Savvy Sidekick, Jackson my dog and I left Toronto on Friday at 4:30pm. Knowing we were going to stay at one of the Viamede cottages, we stopped at Loblaws on the way up to grab groceries. We then got back on the road and managed to make it to Viamede by 7:45. Total travel time with a stop-3 hours!
After a quick and painless check in, we headed to our cottage and unpacked.
That night we went to bed early with the intention of getting up Saturday and enjoying all Viamede had to offer.
On Saturday morning, we awoke, made breakfast in our cottage and headed out onto the Viamede property. Because we brought our dog with us, we wanted to do as many activities as we could outdoors. Our first activity, hiking a combination of Viamede’s 6 trails.
We found the trail “Lover’s Leap”
and we leapt…
Having worked up quite an appetite hiking, we decided to stay in that evening and BBQ what we had bought at the grocery store. Our meal consisted of potatoes, steak, corn and salad.
The meal was delicious as was the view from our cottage!
The next day was a bit chilly so we just relaxed all day reading and enjoying each others company. Honestly-it was another perfect day!
Sunday, we started with breakfast which is included in the price of our cottage stay. The breakfast is much bigger than those that are normally included in a hotel stay which was fine by me!
We toured the grounds and checked out the water activities It was a bit too chilly to enjoy them-but it was nice to know Viamede had this to offer! While we checked out the grounds we spoke to one of the staff. We found out in the summer, Viamede provides activities like Water Skiing, Boating, and Canoeing. They also organize activities like water balloon fights for the entire resort should you (or your kids) want to participate.
The rates at Viamede are $249 a night for the rooms and $329 a night for a cottage. In order to make this a savvy vacation, be sure to check out the Viamede Specials. Looking for savvy food? Grab some groceries on your way up so you can have a few “homemade” meals!
This was a fantastic and much needed mini vacation:) If you’re looking for a relaxing spot-then Viamede is certainly worth checking out!
